LIC AAO Exam Analysis 2016 (13th March): The Life Insurance Corporation of India conducted LIC AAO 2016 on 5th, 6th and 13th March this year. The written exam was conducted in 2 slots (Morning and Afternoon) on both days with the following timestamps – 8:30 A.M. and 12: 45 P.M. Understanding LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2016
As per the information provided in the official notification, the written exam for LIC AAO 2016 comprised of 5 sections.
- Reasoning Ability
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General Awareness
- Computer Knowledge
- English Language
The number of questions and marks allotted to each section in LIC AAO 2016 were as follows.

The total time allotted for solving the written examination was 2 hours (120 minutes). The marking scheme set for LIC AAO 2016 was according to the following criteria.
- For Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude Section, 3 Marks for awarded for correct answer and 0.75 Marks were deducted for each wrong attempt.
- For General Awareness and Computer Knowledge Section, 2 Marks for awarded for correct answer and 0.5 Marks were deducted for each wrong attempt.
The English Section was only qualifying in nature. You only need to clear the cutoff of the section. Overall score did not include marks secured in English Section.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis 2016 (13th March)
The overall difficulty level of LIC AAO Written Examination conducted on 13th March 2016 (both slots) was moderate. When compared with LIC Exams of 5th and 6th March, this one was on the competitive side. Our section-wise analysis of LIC AAO 2016 is as follows.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Reasoning Section
The Reasoning Section in LIC AAO 2016 comprised of easy to moderate questions. A little practice would be good enough to solve a handful of questions. The topic-wise distribution for reasoning section is as follows.
- Directional Arrangement- North to South (1 Set) – 5
- Puzzles (2 sets) – 10 (Floor based, 3 variable based)
- Circular Arrangement (Single Level) (1 Set)– 5
- Syllogism (3 Statement) – 5
- Blood Relationship /Directions – 3
- Coding-Decoding – 2
On the surprising side of things – NO Questions were asked from topics like Input-Output and Inequality. An attempt of 22-24 questions will amount to a good score in this section.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Quantitative Aptitude
Quantitative Aptitude had a mix of moderate to challenging questions. One of the good things was, Data Interpretation Questions were not very calculative. The topic-wise distribution for quantitative aptitude section is as follows.
- Series (Numeric, Alphabetic) – 5
- Data Interpretation (Line Graph & Pie Chart) – 10
- Linear/Quadratic Equations – 5
- Profit Loss -3
- Time & work -2
- Time & Distance -1
- Interest(SI/CI) -2
- Ages – 2
An attempt of 18-21 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis of General Awareness
The General Awareness Section comprised of questions based on Current Affairs from last 3 months on the Indian Economy and Insurance Sector. There were a number of questions based on Static Affairs.
An attempt of 20-22 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Computer Knowledge
Questions asked in Computer Knowledge ranged from easy to average. There were a few questions which were difficulty. So we expect most candidates decided to skip those. Some of the most important topics were

- Keyboard Shortcuts
An attempt of 21-23 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.
LIC AAO Exam Analysis of English Language
English Language Section had a bunch of direct questions. The topic-wise distribution for english language section is as follows.
- Reading Comprehension – 10
- Para Jumbles – 5
- Cloze Passage– 10
- Spotting the Error – 5
- Fill in the blanks (dual) – 5
- Sentence Correction – 5
An attempt of 20-22 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section. We expect atleast 50% score in order to qualify in English Section.
Evaluating the overall cumulative attempt and individual scores in each section, we expect the following cutoff marks for LIC AAO 2016 (13th March).
LIC AAO Cutoff 2016 (Expected)
We expect the overall cutoff for LIC AAO 2016 Written Examination conducted on 13th March to be around the following brackets.
- General – 205-211
- OBC – 193-200
- SC/ST – 185-191

- Each section had a lot of easy questions.
- Current Affairs comprised of 60% portion of General Awareness Section.
- A minimum 50% sectional score in English is required for clearing the sectional cutoff.
