The SSC CHSL Exam Pattern comprises a written examination containing three tiers i.e. Tier I, Tier II and Tier III. Candidates appearing for Tier I will have to appear for Computer Based Test (CBT). Tier II is conducted in Pen and Pap er mode (Written Examination) and Tier III of the Examination is a Skill Test / Typing Test.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier I

The Paper I of SSC CHSL 2016 Exam consists of objective type questions carrying a total of 200 marks. The mode of examination is a computer based test. The total time duration of the paper is 75 Minutes.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Examination will consist of –

  • Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only.
  • The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-I, III & IV.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier II

SSC CHSL 2016 Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in ‘Pen and Paper’ Mode. The total duration of the paper is one hour. This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which are necessary for Government jobs. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter / Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. Those who will qualify in Tier II will be called for Tier III which is a Typing/Skill test.

  • If a candidate is shortlisted as Postal Assistant in Circle/ regional offices, he/she has to deal with the file work. Postal Assistant in Circle/Regional Offices (PACO/RO) will not be dealing directly with the customers.
  • If a candidate is shortlisted as Postal Assistant in returned letter offices, he/she has to deal with the emails which are left undelivered. PARLO (Postal Assistant in Returned Letter offices) has to make efforts to locate the address or send it back ton the sender.
  • If a candidate is shortlisted as PAFPO (Postal Assistant in Foreign Post Organization), he/she has to deal with the foreign articles transmission.

SSC CGL 2017: Tier 3 Exam Pattern

As we all know, SSC CGL Tier 3 comprises a Descriptive Paper. The Descriptive Paper is basically designed to check the candidate’s writing skills which are must for Government Jobs.

  • The descriptive paper is to be held through Pen Paper mode.
  • SSC CGL Tier 3 exam is Bilingual i.e You can choose to write the Paper either in Hindi or in English.
  • This paper comprises of Essay/ Passage Writing of 250 words and application/Letter writing of 15 words.
  • The Total weightage of descriptive Paper is 100 marks having 1-hour duration
  • The minimum Qualifying marks in this paper are 33%.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test requires you to go through following tests:

  • You will be given a dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi.
  • The speed will be 100 w.p.m for Grade C Stenographer and the speed for Grade D Stenographer will be 80 w.p.m.
  • You will have to transcribe the dictation on a computer in a given amount of time.The transcription time will be:
    Grade C – 50 min (English), 65 min (Hindi)
    Grade D – 40 min (English), 55 min (Hindi)

Translation and Essay: 200 Marks (Conventional Type).

The paper will contain two passages for translation-one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in Paper-I & Paper-II of the examination only. Allocation of candidates will be made to User Departments depending upon their merit position and the option exercised by them.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC JE exam for recruitment of Junior Engineers Group B Non-Gazetted posts in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quality and Quantity Assurance in Central Government departments.

The Paper II of SSC JE 2016 consists of conventional type questions carrying a total of 300 marks. The candidates will have to choose subjects/sections as per their area of interest in this paper.

  • There will be three subjects- Civil & Structural or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering in Paper-II of SSC JE exam. The candidates will have to appear for only one.
  • The total time duration for Paper II is 2 hours.
  • Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II.
