After months of delay, the Staff Selection Commission has finally published an official notification F.No.3/1/2016 which has changed SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination 2016 entirely. The SSC CGL New Exam Pattern Notification introduced a number of new provisions and additions to the Scheme of Examination. In a massive turn of events, the Staff Selection Commission has surprised SSC CGL candidates with a number of unexpected changes with this SSC CGL New Exam Pattern and Selection Procedure.

Here is the Official SSC CGL Notification with the updated Scheme of Examination for SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination 2016-17. To clearly specify, these are the following major changes which SSC CGL New Exam Pattern and Scheme of Examination has brought in.

 

1. SSC CGL Revised Scheme of Examination & Selection Procedure

Earlier, SSC Combined Graduate Level of Examination was supposed to be 3 Tier Examination with Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 (wherever applicable). But now, SSC CGL Tier 3 is mandatory with the Introduction of Descriptive Paper in the form of Writing of Essay/ Precis/ Letter/ Application Writing.

SSC CGL Tier-III will be a conducted in Pen and Paper Mode (Offline) and will be a Descriptive Paper carrying 100 marks and a time limit of 60 minutes.

SSC CGL Revised Scheme of Examination 2016

The Final Round i.e. Tier 4, wherever applicable, will be Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) / Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) and no interviews will be conducted. Hence, the updated selection procedure is as follows.

  • A candidates needs to qualify in each and every Tier in order to move to the next one.
  • The Final Merit List will be prepared based on marks secured in Tier I, Tier II and Tier III.
  • SSC CGL Tier IV is qualifying in Nature.
  • There will be no sectional cutoff.

2. SSC CGL Tier-I and Tier-II will be Conducted Online

SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination is ditching the Pen and Paper Mode for CGLE Tier 1 and Tier 2 Papers. Now, both SSC CGL Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be conducted online.

Apart from the major move from pen and paper to online mode, there are a number of changes in SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern.

 

3. SSC CGL New Exam Pattern for Tier-I

SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination has moved to online mode for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Papers. But, the most significant change is in Tier 1 Exam Pattern. Here is what SSC CGL New Exam Pattern is for the Recruitment Session 2016-17.

The Revised Scheme of Examination for SSC CGLE Tier 1 dictates the following

SSC CGL Tier 1: Changes in Exam Pattern

  • Instead of 200 Questions, there will be 100 Questions in SSC CGLE Tier 1, with each question carrying 2 marks.
  • The Negative Marking will be 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • The total time to solve SSC CGL Tier 1 is 1 Hour 15 Minutes i.e. 75 Minutes.
  • As informed earlier, the exam will be conducted online.

4. SSC CGL Tier-I Exam Date (Official)

The Staff Selection Commission has officially notification all Aspirants that SSC CGL Tier 1 Examination will be conducted on 27 August 2016. Earlier, the candidates only knew that it might be conducted sometime in the month of August.

  1. Tier 1 is only qualifying or its marks will be added in final merit….?? Its not clear in notification ..in early paragraph it is written that it will be only qualifying and in latter paragraph it is written that in final merit it will be added….please make it clear..

      • you mean to say that, if the total marks of two or more students clashes, then the marks of tier 1 will be counted to decide the rank?

  6. sir i want to know about tier 3 that is desicriptive test. please clearify this pattern. what type of questions will be asked in that test .

    • As per indication by SSC Website, the admit card for SSC CGL Tier 1 will be available for download from 10 August 2016.

    • Tier III marks will be added in allocating the post. Cutoff for allocation will be decided on the basis of Tier I+Tier II+Tier III marks

  7. So it is basically going to be for 900 marks? And for other posts it is going to be 700 marks? Theoretically it is also possible that a person can get AAO and not get other interview posts he has performed exceptionally well in paper IV and OK OK in tier 2 ?
