The recruitment examination for filling up Group B and C Posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organisations will begin with Tier-I Examination, from 1st to 20th August 2017.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2017
The eligibility criteria for SSC CGL 2017 Examination has been clearly specified in the notification released by SSC. It is extremely important to be familiar with eligibility criteria for SSC CGL before you begin the application process. Failure to do so will deem the candidate ineligible for SSC CGL 2017 Examination.
SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2017 consists of a set of requirements and clauses in terms of age, educational qualification and nationality. Let us have a look at it.
Nationality: As per SSC directives, the nationality of the candidate must be an Indian.
Age Limit: According to the dictates of SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2017, the age limitations vary according to the post a candidate is applying for. The age limitations for SSC CGL Exam are as follows.
The age reckoning date has been kept for 01.08.2017 (1st August 2017) by the Staff Selection Commission.

The relaxation in the upper age limit has been applied according to government norms. They are as follows
- SC/ ST: 5 Years
- OBC: 3 Years
- PH: 10 Years
- PH + OBC: 13 Years
- PH + SC/ST: 15 Years
Minimum Educational Qualification: Similar to age limitation, the minimum educational qualification also varies with the post.
- For the Post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO), a candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute. It will be a desirable qualification for AAO Post if the candidate is a Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Economics.
- For the Post of Statistical Investigator Gr.II, a candidate must possess atleast a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute and at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- For the Post of Compiler, a candidate must possess atleast a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject.
- For all the other Posts, a candidate must possess atleast a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute
Note: Degree obtained from open Universities/Distance Education is allowed in this exam but, the university must be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2017
For the Recruitment Session 2017-18, the process for cracking the recruitment examination for SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination will be completed in 3-4 steps. The SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2017 will be 4-Tier, where candidates have to qualify each level in order to move to the next one.
SSC CGL 2017 Tier-I Examination
The first paper i.e. SSC CGL Tier 1 will be common for all posts. All candidates, regardless of the post they’ve applied for, have to attempt and qualify in this paper in order to move forward.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Examination will be an objective MCQ Based Paper, with 100 questions and 200 marks in total.
The candidates who qualify in SSC CGL Tier-I will be called for next phase, Tier-II Exam.
SSC CGL 2017 Tier-II Examination
The second phase of SSC CGL 2017 Recruitment involves post specific papers, which means, depending on the post you’ve opted for, you have to appear for various papers.

As we stated above, depending on the post one has applied for, candidates will appear for the paper.
- Paper I and Paper II are mandatory for all candidates appearing in SSC CGL Tier-II.
- For the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO), candidate has to appear for Paper I, Paper II and Paper IV.
- For the posts of Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler, candidate has to appear for Paper I, Paper II and Paper III.
Candidates who make it through Tier-II will be eligible to appear in both Tier-III and Tier-IV Exams.
SSC CGL 2017 Tier-III Examination
The third phase of SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination will be of Descriptive Nature. The total marks will be 100.
SSC CGL Tier-III will test the candidate’s writing skills on the basis of the performance in Essay/ Application/ Letter/ Precis/ Report Writing.
SSC CGL 2017 Tier-IV Examination
The final phase i.e. SSC CGL Tier 4 will be qualifying in nature. Tier-II qualified candidates need to appear for Tier-IV Examination as well, with the only exception of AAO, Statistical Officer.

Please keep in mind that the final selection will be based on the scores achieved in SSC CGL Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III Examination. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off. Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification will also be conducted as per the provisions of the notice of examination.
