The Ministry of Railways and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has initiated the hiring process for RRB 2016 Non-Technical Cadre. The RRB Recruitment 2016 application process is online. So, all the interested candidates can send in their applications to the corresponding RRBs.
The last date for submitting application is 25 January 2016.

The Indian Railways, under the guidance of Ministry of Railways, works with the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) in shortlisting candidates for various posts in the Non-Technical Departments. The recruitment process has been simplified. Candidates are required to crack a written exam first. Only the ones who qualify RRB Written Exam are called for an interview. In this article, we will provide information regarding various aspects of RRB Recruitment 2016 (Non-Technical), like Application Process, Eligibility Criteria, Vacancies, Selection Process and Important Dates. RRB Recruitment Vacancies 2016 

According to the official notification released by RRB, the total number of job vacancies in the Indian Railways is 18252. These jobs are under the RRB Non-Technical Cadre. Hence, the selected candidates will be working in various zonal railway units. The various posts in RRB Recruitment 2016 Non-Techincal Cadre are as follows.

These RRB job vacancies apply to a number of States. The participating RRBs in the Non-Technical Recruitment are as follows – Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Jammu-Srinagar, Kolkata, Malda, Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Ranchi, Secunderabad, Siliguri and Thiruvananthapuram.

RRB Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2016 

The RRB Eligibility Criteria 2016 dictates a few important guidelines which every candidate needs to fulfill. The information is basically related to candidates age limit and educational qualification.

  • A candidate needs to be of Indian Nationality in order to apply.
  • Age Limit: 18 to 32 years as on 1 January 2016. Candidates belonging to SC and ST category will be eligible for age relaxation of 5 years and the OBC candidates get 3 years of age relaxation as per the rules and guidelines by RRB.
  • Educational Qualification: A candidate needs to be atleast a Graduate from a college or university recognized by the Central Government.  Typing Proficiency in English / Hindi in Computer is essential for For specific posts like JCAA, Senior Clerk cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper, Typing Proficiency in English/Hindi is also necessary.

 

RRB Recruitment 2016 – Selection Process

The Written Exam will be conducted online. It is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) which basically will analyze your aptitude, reasoning and professional skills. The examination will be held simultaneously by all participating RRBs mentioned above. Depending upon the post, candidates might have to go through an interview round in order to get selected.

Hence, the common selection process for RRB Recruitment 2016 (Non-Technical) will be

RRB Recruitment Expected Exam Pattern 2016 

The written examination for selection to the above-mentioned posts consists of questions from the following subjects:

  • Arithmetic
  • General Ability
  • General Science
  • General Awareness

The main highlights regarding the RRB Non-Technical Exam Pattern 2016 are:

  • There are multiple choice objective type questions.
  • The duration of the examination will be 90 minutes to 120 minutes with approximately 100 to 120 questions.

RRB Recruitment (Non-Technical) Pay Scale

The salary and pay scale for RRB Non-Technical 2016 recruits will be as follows.

    • Hello Rameshwar,

      For serving in Group C erstwhile Group D Railway Staff, Casual Labour and Substitutes, the upper age limit will be up to 40 years for Unreserved candidates, 45 years for SC/ST candidates and 43 years for OBC candidates, provided they have put in a minimum of 3 years service.

  2. Sir ye bataye ki kya main ek RRB main sabhi post ke liye apply kar sakta hu ya nahi. Kya ek RRB main apply Karen ke baad other RRB main bhi apply kiya ja sakta hai ya nahi ? Form reject to nahi hoga.

    • Hello Pawan,

      The form will not be rejected.
      But you have to travel various locations as the test centre will be allotted with respect to RRB centres only.

      It is too early to say anything about the Cutoffs as the examination will be conducted in the month of march.

      Final Cutoff of Railways Exam will be evaluated on many factors. Some of those have been mentioned below.

      1. Number of candidates appearing for the Examination.
      2. No of candidates qualifying.
      3. Difficulty level of the question paper
      4. No. of vacancies

      All we can say for now is attempting 75-80 Questions with good accuracy will be a wise decision.

  3. Sir, I am from Jharkhand but want to apply for RRB Kolkata. I dont have any knowledge about Bengali. Can I apply? Also if I apply for that particular railway board will I be able to give exam from my state or will I have to go to West Bengal to give the exam?

    • Yes you can apply for the same but prefer the RRB on the basis of following points:

      1. Number of Posts in that RRB
      2. Distance from your Location
      3. Local Domicile

      Yes, Local candidates definitely get preference and you have to travel to the RRB test centre in the same state, if you apply for any post in RRB, WB.

    • In case of ASM & Traffic Apprentice, the selected candidates have to provide Vision Certificate from an Eye Specialist.

      So you can plan the post preference accordingly, while filling the form.

      The centre will be allotted by RRB only.
      You can fill the choice of test centres available with the respective RRB.

    • There will be a separate typing skill test after the Combined Preliminary Test (CPT) conducted by the RRB for the recruitment under the following post:
      1. Junior Account Assistant cum typist
      2. Senior Clerk cum typist
      3. Senior Time Keeper

      If you qualify that test you will get shortlisted for the document verification.

    First I have completed one registration and submitted it. After printing only I saw a errors. Then unknowingly instead of modifying it I made a new registration.will both my applications will be cancelled.please help me….

    • There will be a typing test after the Written test for the respective posts. You can mark it as yes and if you qualify the typing test.
      You will be selected.

Hello sir i am applying for rrb.I have a knowledge in typing,but in rrb application they are asking as do you have proficiency knowledge in typing.I have the typing knowledge but i dont have the typing certificates.Now i should mark the answer as yes or no for the question do you have typing proficiency.

    • There will be a typing test after the Written test for the respective posts.
      You can mark it as yes and if you qualify the typing test.

    I m filling the form of rrb 2016. in 10th marksheet my name is written in english and hindi. So kindly tell me, i have to mark yes or no in vernacular language.

    • There will be a typing skill test after the written Examination for the candidates who get selected. There might be an option to choose the medium.
      For further clarification, you may contact RRB Helpline.

    • Candidates are required to apply ONLINE to any one RRB only, depending upon their eligibility.
      Application to more than one RRB will lead to cancellation of all applications submitted by you.

    • The date of joining will vary post from post as some post will include further stages of written examination and others are filled by document verification only.

    • It is quite early to say anything about the cut-offs but attempting 75-80 Questions with 90% accuracy is considered a good attempt.

    • The paper will include Questions from following subjects:

      1. Reasoning & General Intelligence
      2. General Knowledge
      3. General Science
      4. Arithmetic & Data Interpretation

    • GK part will include static as well as current affairs questions. Reasoning part will include the usual logical reasoning and visual reasoning, the Quant section will be similar to banking. More weightage will be given to Arithmetic and DI.

    first i applied for one rrb then to make some changes in the application unknowngliy instead of modifying i applied it with new registration .so which appliction is accepted or else is there any chance for canceling the first applied registration

  13. Sir I have given preference like 1.good guards 2.commercial apprentice 3. Assistant station master and I m girl I try to modify it but it not happen if I score more marks for selecting as a CA or ASM so can I get job in that field or I will select as a good guard

    • No interview will be there for this recruitment. CBT will be followed by typing skill test/Aptitude test/document verification as per the post preference and allotment of the post according to the merit.

    • The candidates should be able to type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only , disabling editing tools and spell check facility

Hello sir, i filled the form of ASM, despite i have eye problem, i use spectacles, For the post ASM eye sight is necessary, If I qualify in the examination, then what will happen,Is there any possibility to go for other post where there eye sight is not necessary, or i would not get any post because of my eye sight, I am skeptical about it, please tell me sir??

    I am a software engineer. I want to know that is there any difference in earnings compare with ASM/goods guard and my profession. Presently my salary is 10000 per month and in next year it will be 20000 per month. so after 10 years my salary will be 1 lakh per month. I can do service in this field for 20 years.
