Maharashtra State Teacher Eligibility Test (Maha TET), is paper-pen based recruitment examination. It is directed and conducted by the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations, Pune. Maharashtra TET serves as the central teacher eligibility test in Maharashtra for aspirants intending on being appointed as teachers for Classes I to VIII. The State of Maharashtra has made Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) a mandatory qualification for Primary (Classes I to V) and Elementary (Classes VI to VIII) teachers in Maharashtra.

Since the examination date of Maharashtra TET 2015 has been moved to 16 January 2016, candidates have gained a little surplus time to concentrate on topics where extra points can be secured easily. Maha TET 2015 Paper 1 Preparation Tips and Key Pointers

Maharashtra TET 2015 Paper 1 is for Classes I to V. There are 5 equal sections with 30 questions each, making it a total of 150 questions. Let us discuss how to prepare optimally for each section.

1. Child Psychology and Teaching Science

This section deals with the educational psychology and teaching process applicable to students aged 6 to 11 years. As these years are termed as the formative ones, it is extremely important to take things like teacher-student interaction, student activities, building exercises etc. into consideration.

Important Topics: Teaching Procedures, Evaluation Processes and Skill building Exercises for Primary School Students.

2. Language I

You have to select one from Marathi, English and Urdu in this section. Syllabus covered from Classes I to V will be asked and the questions will be based on Language Comprehension and Pedagogy of Language Development.

Important Topics: Reading Comprehension, Audio-Visual Teaching Methods, Listening and Speaking Techniques and Challenges of Teaching a Language to Students.

3. Language II

You have to select one from Marathi, English and Urdu in this section. Syllabus covered from Classes I to V will be asked and the questions will be based on Language Comprehension and Pedagogy of Language Development.

Important Topics: Unseen Reading Comprehension, Principal of Language Skills and Various Challenges a teacher might face while teaching a diverse classroom.

4. Mathematics

Maha TET Paper 1 also has a compulsory section for Mathematics, which is an essential subject that every primary school student runs away from. Questions are quite elementary since they are meant for students from Classes 1 to V. Yet, learning the proper methods is important.  

Important Topics: Basic Number Operations, HCF and LCM, BODMAS, Rational Numbers and Ratio and Proportion.

5. Social Studies

This section is highly diverse and requires a lot of information gathering and learning. Maha TET Paper 1 Social Studies Section will consist of questions from the world of History, Civics General Science, Geography and Environmental Science taught to Classes III to V. 

Important Topics: Ancient India, Indian Struggle for Independence, Formation of Earth, General Land Formations, Current Environment Status etc.

Maha TET 2015 Paper 2 Preparation Tips and Key Pointers

Maharashtra TET 2015 Paper 2 is for teaching Classes VI to VIII. There are 4 sections with questions in the denominations of 30, 30, 30 and 60 respectively. Similar to Paper 1 of Maharashtra TET, Paper 2 has 150 Questions.

1. Child Psychology and Teaching Science

The teaching process and educational psychology turn to middle school students of age group 11 to 14 years in this section of Maha TET Paper 2. This section is particularly important as it lays a lot of emphasis on dynamic teaching techniques and better teacher-student interaction at an intellectual level.  

Important Topics: Teaching Methods, Learning Techniques and Training Methods for middle school students.

2. Language I

You have to select one from Marathi, English and Urdu in this section. Syllabus covered from Classes VI to VIII will be asked and the questions will be based on Language Comprehension and Pedagogy of Language Development.

Important Topics: Reading Comprehension, Audio-Visual Teaching Methods, Listening and Speaking Techniques and Challenges of Teaching a Language to Students.

This section comprises of a total 60 questions on a number topics. In Maharashtra TET Paper 2, this section will have questions based on Mathematics, Science, History, Civics, Geography, Social Law and Environmental Science. The syllabus will be similar to the subjects taught to students from Classes VI to VIII.   

Important Topics: Number Systems, Profit and Loss, TSD, General Science, Tracing the History of India, Indian Economy, Various Life Cycles etc.
