LIC AAO Exam Analysis and Expected Cutoff Marks 2016 Written Exam

LIC AAO Exam Analysis: The Life Insurance Corporation of India conducted LIC AAO 2016 on 5th and 6th March this year. The written exam was conducted in 2 slots (Morning and Afternoon) on both days with the following timestamps – 8:30 A.M. and 12: 45 P.M. Understanding LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2016

As per the information provided in the official notification, the written exam for LIC AAO 2016 comprised of 5 sections.

  1. Reasoning Ability
  2. Quantitative Aptitude
  3. General Awareness
  4. Computer Knowledge
  5. English Language

The number of questions and marks allotted to each section in LIC AAO 2016 were as follows.

The total time allotted for solving the written examination was 2 hours (120 minutes). The marking scheme set for LIC AAO 2016 was according to the following criteria.

  • For Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude Section, 3 Marks for awarded for correct answer and 0.75 Marks were deducted for each wrong attempt.
  • For General Awareness and Computer Knowledge Section, 2 Marks for awarded for correct answer and 0.5 Marks were deducted for each wrong attempt.

The English Section was only qualifying in nature. You only need to clear the cutoff of the section. Overall score did not include marks secured in English Section. Refer to the following exam analysis and review in this article.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis 2016 (5th March)

The overall difficulty level of LIC AAO Written Examination conducted on 5th March 2016 (both slots) was easy. Our section-wise analysis of LIC AAO 2016 is as follows.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Reasoning Section

The Reasoning Section in LIC AAO 2016 comprised of fairly easy questions. A candidate with minimum practice hours could’ve solved this section. The topic-wise distribution for reasoning section is as follows.

  • Syllogism (3 Statement) – 5
  • Sitting Arrangement – 10
  • Complex Arrangement/Puzzle –10
  • Blood Relationship /Directions– 5

One of the most surprising fact was – NO Questions were asked from topics like Coding-Decoding, Ranks and Inequality. An attempt of 20-22 questions will amount to a good score in this section.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Quantitative Aptitude

Quantitative Aptitude also had a set of easy and direct questions this year. The topic-wise distribution for quantitative aptitude section is as follows.

  • Series (Numeric, Alphabetic) – 5
  • Data Interpretation (Line Graph and Table) – 10
  • Linear/Quadratic Equations – 5
  • Profit Loss -3
  • Time & work -3
  • Percentage -2
  • Ages– 2

An attempt of 21-22 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of General Awareness

The General Awareness Section comprised of questions based on Current Affairs from last 3 months on the Indian Economy and Insurance Sector. There were a number of questions based on Static Affairs.

An attempt of 22-24 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Computer Knowledge

Questions asked in Computer Knowledge ranged from easy to average. Some of the most important topics were

  • Software
  • Hardware
  • Microsoft Office
  • Operating System
  • Keyboard Shortcuts

An attempt of 22-24 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of English Language

English Language Section had a bunch of direct questions. The topic-wise distribution for english language section is as follows.

  • Reading Comprehension – 10
  • Para Jumbles – 5.
  • Cloze Passage– 10
  • Spotting the Error – 5
  • Fill in the blanks (dual) – 5
  • Sentence Correction – 5

An attempt of 22-24 questions with good accuracy will amount to a good score in this section. We expect atleast 50% score in order to qualify in English Section.

Evaluating the overall cumulative attempt and individual scores in each section, we expect the following cutoff marks for LIC AAO 2016 (5th March).

 

LIC AAO Cutoff 2016 (Expected)

We expect the overall cutoff for LIC AAO 2016 Written Examination conducted on 5th March to be around the following brackets.

  • General – 200-205
  • OBC – 190-195
  • SC/ST – 180-185

Now, we move to the next day of LIC AAO Written Examination. The Exam Analysis will follow the same procedure as above.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis 2016 (6th March)

Similar to previous day, The overall difficulty level of LIC AAO Written Examination conducted on 6th March 2016 (both slots) was easy. Our section-wise analysis of LIC AAO 2016 is as follows.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Reasoning Section

The Reasoning Section in LIC AAO 2016 comprised of fairly easy questions. A candidate with minimum practice hours could’ve solved this section. The topic-wise distribution for reasoning section is as follows.

  • Sitting Arrangement Circular (1 Set) – 5
  • Puzzles (2 sets) – 10 (Floor based, 3 variable based)
  • Sitting Arrangement  Linear (1 Set)– 5
  • Syllogism – 5
  • Blood Relationship /Directions – 5

Again, NO Questions were asked from topics like Coding-Decoding, Ranks and Inequality. An attempt of 20-22 questions will amount to a good score in this section.

LIC AAO Exam Analysis of Quantitative Aptitude

We expect the overall cutoff for LIC AAO 2016 Written Examination conducted on 6th March to be around the following brackets.

  • General – 210-215
  • OBC – 197-205
  • SC/ST – 188-193

So, our overall review of both days of LIC AAO 2016 was

  1. Each section had a lot of easy questions.
  2. Current Affairs comprised of 60% portion of General Awareness Section.
  3. A minimum 50% sectional score in English is required for clearing the sectional cutoff.
  4. We can expect an ideal overall attempt of 70-75% questions from candidates who crack LIC AAO 2016 Written Examination.
