6th JPSC Prelims 2016: Do’s and Don’ts

As we have now entered the final week leading upto 6th JPSC Prelims 2016 Exam, we need to focus on a pre-defined strategy. Let us initiate with our Do’s section:

Do’s for 6th JPSC Prelims 2016

  • For both papers, I and II, we have 2 hours for 100 questions each. So, on an average we have 1.20 minutes i.e. 1 minute 20 seconds for every question. This includes the time you need to read, analyze and answer the question which at this time seems adequate, but when you are taking the actual exam, you will not realize how quickly the time passes. So, the first and foremost thing you need to keep in mind is that you must manage your time at all costs. If you’re stuck at a question for more than 40 seconds, just skip it and go on to the next one. You can come back to it later if you have time in the end.
  • Before attempting, always make sure to read the question and related values carefully and then answer.
  • Always try to solve easy questions first as a major portion of the paper will be completed which will boost your confidence and you will also have more time to solve difficult questions towards the end.
  • Geography and history section constitutes for at least 50 percent of the entire exam. So, you can attempt these to complete a major part of the exam and since it is theoretical it won’t take much of your time.
  • Try to solve case-lets, as they have common information for a set of 4-5 questions.
  • Always keep a track of time while solving the paper as when the time is over for the first paper, the kiosk shifts to the next paper.
  • In subjects like mathematics and science, try to use shortcut techniques for various calculations.
  • Always follow a preset strategy for solving the exam. Never change it midway, it will do more harm than good.
  • Generally, these papers tend to have options that seem quite similar to each other or nearby values. Always mark the answers carefully in such cases.

Don’ts for 6th JPSC Prelims 2016

  • Don’t waste your time on imposing and trying to fit in the answers for theoretical questions by hook or by crook. You either know the answer or you don’t. Hence, only attempt if know the answer, otherwise skip it.
  • Never play the guessing game if you are unsure about the answer for a specific question. All you are going to do is compromise your overall score as negative marking is applicable for incorrect answers.
  • Avoid questions that involve lengthy calculations. Mark them for later review. If you have time left in the end, you can come back to them later.
  • Don’t try to solve the paper in one go. Switch sections and solve as many questions as possible as you need to clear the sectional cut-off.
