Under the National Electricity Mobility Mission 2020, a plan has been proposed to adopt electric and hybrid vehicles in India more rapidly and to manufacture them. Under this scheme, it has been envisaged to encourage the progressive change of reliable, affordable and efficient electric and hybrid vehicles  in the country, which will help in the promotion of indigenous manufacturing capabilities and cooperation between Government-industry, necessary infrastructure, Consumer performance and cost-related requirements through consumer awareness and technology And discover; As a result, India will emerge as the leading country in the Electric two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicle market by 2020. The goal of this mission is to provide people with an environmentally friendly, clean transport system that does not depend on gasoline based on fossil fuels. By using these oil import bill can be reduced and energy security can be ensured in the country.

Steps taken by the Government so far in this direction

Government has launched an important and ambitious initiative called ‘National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, 2020 (NEMMP)’, under which the target of 6-7 million hybrid and electric vehicles has been set annually from the year 2020. Under this, there is a plan to increase both demand and supply of these vehicles. The objective of the government is to provide financial and monetary incentives to start this newborn system. The Fame {Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and Electric Electric Vehicles}} is to be implemented all over the country. This is part of the National Electricity Mission Mission Plan. In this budget, a provision of Rs 175 crore has been made, while this revised budget estimate is about Rs. 123 crore. The government started the scheme which would help in the adoption of Hybrid and Electric vehicles and their market creation. The focus of this scheme is to focus on 4 sectors- the development of technology development, demand creation, pilot project and charging infrastructure. The purpose of this scheme is to promote electric and hybrid vehicles in all areas of two wheelers, tricycles, passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles and buses. To increase research and development (R & D) in this field in February 2016, Heavy Industries Department and Science and Technology Department jointly launched a technical platform. The Indian government is planning to eliminate petrol and diesel cars by the year 2032. However, more emphasis in government schemes is linked to the problem of pollution and reducing dependence on imported oil, but once the process starts, the market will accelerate it in its own way.

The supply of these vehicles can be increased by encouraging through special exemptions for electric vehicles such as tax exemption, prompt environmental clearance, subsidy etc. Demand for these vehicles can be increased by providing consumer subsidy, relaxation of road tax and registration fee rebate, free parking arrangements etc. The infrastructure for electric vehicles should be increased, including public charging stations, dedicated power supply lines for these stations, and stations for replacement of batteries. In addition, tax credits should be provided to the private institutions setting up research laboratories in this area.
