Pre-Primary Teacher

For a pre-primary teacher the basic qualification needed is a bachelors degree along with a training called Nursery teachers training (NTT) which many institutions provide. (eligibility criteria for the course is +2). Many schools prefer the person who is having skills to handle kids in a very smooth and appropriate manner and teacher must have lot of patience to handle them.

Primary Teacher (PRT)

The minimum requirement to be a primary school teacher is a graduate and a Bachelors in education (B.Ed.) degree. Normally candidates who have a Bachelors in education (B.Ed.) start their career as primary school teachers and gradually move up. Candidates who are graduates in home science can also be selected for primary school teachers. The candidate must be a graduate or a post graduate with at least 50% marks aggregate and holding either a diploma or degree in education or teaching.

Note: Relaxation of 5% will be provided to the reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST)

The candidate should have at studied least one of the teaching subjects during graduation. Also, to be eligible for PRT post, one has to clear Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). 

About TET: Teacher Eligibility Test known as TET is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8.

CTET 1

It is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. Most states conduct their own TET. The test is conducted in order fulfill and achieve the goals of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT)

The candidate must have a graduate and a Bachelors in education (B.Ed.) degree. The B.Ed. course thoroughly prepares the teachers for secondary schools. Teachers who have this B.Ed. degree after their graduation are called Trained Graduate Teachers.

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)

To become a PGT level teacher, one must have a post graduate degree in the subject and a Bachelors in education (B.Ed.) degree. Teacher Eligibility Test is not compulsory for the to become PGT teacher.
